Hotel Union is situated in the heart of Cienfuegos, the only city established by the French.

The old part of town can be easily negotiated on foot. Punta Gorda, a narrow stretch of land sticking out into the ocean, forms an entirely different part of town. In the early 20th centuries this area was home to wealthy people who constructed impressive homes and art nouveau villas. The Malecon (sea boulevard) connects both town parts. If you don’t feel like walking the 3 kilometers, you can take a cheap máquina (collective taxi) or coche caballo (horse-drawn carriage).

Most guests visiting Cienfuegos arrive by international flight to Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, which also has a domestic flight terminal. The International Airport of Cienfuegos, Jamie Gonzales, receives only international flights from Montreal and Toronto. There are no domestic flights available between Cienfuegos and other Cuban destinations.

When arriving in Havana, why not stay for a couple of days to experience the unique qualities of Cuba’s capital before moving on to Cienfuegos. During the booking process you can request an airport transfer* to your hotel in either Havana or Cienfuegos.

Transfers are also available between hotels in Havana and hotels in Cienfuegos. Other means of transport are the affordable Viazul bus service or a rental car, perhaps the best option if you are planning on touring the island.

In addition to a large number of cultural and historic attractions, Cienfuegos has excellent facilities for scuba diving and other water sports. Nature lovers should not pass up on a day trip to the waterfalls of El Nicho, located about 50 kilometers from Cienfuegos. We also recommend a visit to the colonial gem Trinidad or Santa Clara, home to the museum and resting place of Che Guevara.

*You can book a convenient private transfer during the reservation process.
